NPC Essentials Workshop - DENVER, CO

NAVREF is hosting an NPC training workshop in Denver, CO beginning on Thursday, April 16th at 8:00 am and concluding on Friday, April 17th at 12:00 pm.  There will be no charge for the NPC Training Workshop other than your travel expenses, i.e., flight, per diem and hotel. 

The NPC Essentials Workshop is kept small and informal to facilitate learning points between presenters as well as participants. This training is designed for executive directors and senior staff members with less than 5 years of experience, however all are welcome! Several topics will be discussed including/but not limited to NPC operations, HR, and finances. We also plan on having presenters from STAR, OGC Ethics, and NPPO to round out the curriculum.

HOTEL INFORMATION

The NPC Training Workshop will be held at the Aloft Hotel in Denver, CO. The hotel is a hip new downtown Denver hotel that's a block from the Colorado Convention Center and the 16th Street Mall. They offer easy-breezy access to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and nearby museums. Guests can always stay connected with free hotel-wide wireless High Speed Internet Access! Our room block has been secured at $154 per night so please book your rooms as soon as you can! This is well-under the government per diem rate! Attendees will be able to book, modify, or cancel a reservation until March 25, 2020.

Q:         Where is the training being held?

A:           The training is held in Denver, CO at the Aloft Hotel in Downtown Denver.


Q:        What are the Class Hours?

A:        The training will be held April 16th  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. to April 17th  8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. It is expected that you make your travel arrangements so that you attend the duration of the training, please do not leave early the second day, both days contain valuable learning tools.


Q:        What is the proper attire?

A:        “Smart Casual” attire is appropriate.  The temperature in many hotels vary greatly throughout the day.  We advise that you dress in layers in order to be comfortable as the indoor climate changes. The idea is to be comfortable to learn! Hoodies are OK too! 


Q:        Are there refreshment/meal breaks?

A:        Yes, breakfast will be provided at 7:00 a.m. daily. We will also provide lunch on the first day of training. All dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice. 


Q:        Are there any “after-class” activities planned?

A:        Yes, on April 16th we have an informal reception planned at the hotel bar.


Q:        What about travel and hotel reservations?

A:        We WILL have a designated guest room block at the Aloft Hotel.  You will be responsible for your local transportation.  If you would like to carpool, please inform NAVREF staff so we can try to coordinate attendees.
