Today, Friends of VA Research (FOVA) issued a statement calling for urgent action to resolve delays in research hiring across the Department of Veterans Affairs.

While we commend Secretary Collins and VA for exempting key research roles from the broader federal hiring freeze, a critical barrier remains: the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is not releasing VA appointments, halting the hiring process and disrupting studies that Veterans depend on.

]As VA Research celebrates its 100th anniversary, now is the moment to reaffirm—not retreat from—our national commitment to scientific advancement on behalf of those who served.
