CS2 (Clinical Studies Costing Software)

VHA regulations provide that “When medical services are furnished...as part of an approved research project...purely for the research program and not as a part of approved medical care..., the research appropriation must reimburse the medical care appropriation” M-1, Part 1, Chapter 15.21

The same requirement applies to the VA-affiliated nonprofits (NPCs) which also must reimburse the medical care appropriation for clinical services provided solely for research purposes or to a patient who is not otherwise eligible for VA care.

This software was developed in Microsoft Access by the Hines VA NPC and will allow you to calculate the reimbursable portion as a percentage of the total clinical trial budget.  Subsequently, as payments from the sponsor are received, the predetermined percentage is applied and the resulting amount reimbursed to the medical care appropriation.  Other features include procedural cost tables, a contact manager, project list, the potential increase in the medical center’s VERA research allocation resulting from the study and the value of drug not used because free, company-provided drug will be used instead.  Go back to the email to download the software.
