Brief Description |
The Salem VA Medical Center has over 60 open research studies. Our largest research program is Endocrinology whose lab is equipped with an immulite 2000 Advanced Immunoassay System, an ICM Gamma Counter, a Hologic Density Scanner, and a Bayer ACS 180. The Salem VAMC serves all Virginia veterans for psychiatric care and southwestern Virginia veterans for medical and surgical care. During a single year approximately 31,000+ patients are seen in over 3000,000 patient visits. While the veteran population is overwhelmingly male, around 10% of the Salem VAMC patient population is female. Approximately 48% of the patients are over 64 making our site ideal for clinical trials for diseases associated with aging. |
