Brief Description |
Albany VAMC is an integrated, university affiliated tertiary care facility that provides a full range of patient care services, state-of-the-art technology, education and research. Utilizing Biomedical Laboratory Research, Heath Services Research, and Clinical Trials Research, our direct input into the development of new pharmaceutical therapies, our discovery of novel biomedical information for application to future medical developments, and our use of the medical records to derive trends and answer questions for developing improved therapeutic responses have been fostered. The Albany VAMC research program involves 38 Principal Investigators with over 60 active study protocols.
Albany VAMC has received more than $16 million in federal funding for infrastructure improvements as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These improvements will ennhance care of veterans, improve operations, and provide long term savings through energy efficiency. Albany VAMC serves 22 counties spanning from the Canadian border to the mid-Hudson Valley and from the Western counties of Massachusetts and Vermont to east of Utica, New York. Albany VAMC also provides primary care in the community at its 11 Community Based Outpatient Clinics. |
